Ann Curry
Ann Curry, an American photojournalist and journalist who has reported on natural and war-related disasters for more than 45 years. She focuses on the suffering of those in these areas. Curry has reported on wars all over the world, including in Kosovo Iraq Syria Lebanon Palestine Afghanistan Darfur Congo. Ann Curry, born November 19 1956 (Agana) is an American journalist who served as anchor of a newscast on TV. Curry became known in particular for her reporting on catastrophes caused by natural causes and humanitarian crises which occurred in war-ravaged areas. Curry's father served as a sailor in the U.S. Navy and her mother was Japanese. Curry met her mother when she was working with her father in Japan following World War II. As a result of her father's active military service, the family relocated frequently. Curry completed her high school education at Ashland Oregon. In 1978, she graduated from in the University of Oregon with a bachelor's degree in journalism. She was exposed to diverse cultures and situations in her early years probably contributed to her empathy that she has for issues of international significance. Curry was often on the move together with her husband, and did not attend any school more than two or three years. She went to schools in San Diego Alameda Oregon Virginia. Ashland was her final high school. Her career in broadcasting began with an internship at KTVL Channel 10 Medford in Oregon. When she was 22, she was the first female journalist for the station. Then she was promoted to the role of anchor as well as reporter at KGW which was an NBC affiliate located in Portland, Oregan. Then she returned to Los Angeles four years later working as a journalist at KCBS TV. It was during her time with the channel for a period of six years that she received the two Emmy Awards.
